Aston Tower Community Primary School Resource Base - Our Vision
Our Resource Base serves primary-aged pupils with the autistic spectrum condition (ASC). The base will provide specialised support for pupils who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and a diagnosis of autism. Pupils are allocated a place by the local authority. Some will come from Aston Tower and other schools.
Our resource base will provide tailored support to ensure pupils’ particular needs are met, allowing them to achieve the academic and personal development targets in their EHCP. The resource base will provide a high level of care to promote pupils’ well-being. We will aim for pupils attending the resource base to benefit from opportunities to integrate into our highly successful school with carefully planned opportunities to learn and play alongside mainstream pupils. These opportunities will maximise the development of pupils from both the resource base and the mainstream school.
We will work closely with the parents of these pupils. Our school was awarded the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA), strong evidence of our successful work led by our Deputy Headteacher and SENCo. The resource base will enable pupils to successfully attend a local mainstream primary school and have their needs met through effective specialist provision.
Aston Tower is a high-performing school as identified in our recent Ofsted inspection in October 2024. Provision SEND pupils was identified as one of our many strengths. Our Deputy Headteacher/SENCo is very experienced and provides excellent leadership in this area. Staff are well-trained, inclusive and sensitive to a wide range of pupils’ needs. This means that SEND pupils at the school achieve well, feel safe and grow in confidence. Our premises have important adaptations to enable SEND pupils to succeed and staff are experienced in working with parents of pupils who have SEND, understanding their needs and concerns. The resource base is located in purpose-built accommodation.
